چکیده مقاله:

Background: Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy and/or increased health problems such as infertility and sub fertility. Lipid peroxidation contributes to the damage of the sperm plasma membrane and result to infertility. In this study effects of Antioxidants (E, C, Astaxanthin vitamins) on sperm parameters has been investigated in rats with high fat diet. Materials and Methods: Matured wistar albino male rats weighting approximately 200-250 g were divided to 3 groups; control with access to standard diet, group with high-fat diet and animals received high-fat diet and Antioxidants (vitamins E and C, Astaxanthin). After at three months, the rats were sacrificed and sperm parameters such as sperm count, motility, morphology and viability were analyzed. Results: The results obtained in the study revealed that sperm number in high-fat diet and Antioxidants group (62.4 × 106 per ml) was higher than control(57× 106 per ml) and high fat diet group(55.75 × 106 per ml). Progressive motility of spermatozoa in group fed with antioxidants (46.81%) was higher than others. But there was no significant difference between sperm morphology and viability of three groups. Conclusion: The present results suggest that sperm parameters such as number and motility could affected by high-fat diet, and sperm count and motility reduction due to high fat diet may be compensated and improved by antioxidants such as E, C and Astaxanthin vitamins.

Protective Effects of Restricted Diet and Antioxidants on Testis Tissue in Rats Fed with High-Fat Diet

Background: A high-fat diet (HFD) and fat accumulation promote the oxidative stress formation, which in turn has hazardous effects on reproductive system and fertility. Therefore, the present study examines the potential positive effects of a restricted high-fat diet (RHFD) and antioxidants consumption on sperm parameters in rats. Methods: 48 male albino wistar rats divided to four groups (n=12...
